On December 29th we were given the oppurtunity to meet some of our son's birthfamily. It was an amazing experience. The details of the experience we are going to keep private until Bennett is at the age where he can decide if and who to tell his story. But the trip to Wolisso was an awesome one that we are happy to share! We got to travel about 2 hours to Wolisso and there are lots of rural sights to see on the way. Everyone drives fast on the 2 lane "highway" and they pass each other if the person in front is going slightly slower. They pass each other at times when no one should be passing anyone! There were several instances where we would get in the opposite lane to pass and all the sudden a huge truck is staring us in the face and we have to swerve back! So scary and not what I am used to, especially with my new baby and no car seat. Talk about the power of prayer! Haha.

This is when we arrived at the orphanage for our meeting of family.
They insisted I try to make injera! Haha, I was not very good but it was fun to try. Injera is the "bread" that they eat everything with in Ethiopia (it is NOT like our bread) it is like a flat spongy torilla/pancake that is bitter.
While in Wolisso we went to the spot where there are monkeys! Lots of monkeys! They would come so close. The black and white one can only be found in Ethiopia.
There was even a mom and baby!
Donkeys carrying clean water in the yellow jugs. It was common to see women carrying a couple of these jugs too.
This is what a lot of the stores look like on the way to Wolisso.
This is the most common van that you will see. They are all blue and white almost.
After our trip to Wolisso we went shopping for some traditional Ethiopian outfits for Bennett. We got several different sizes so he will have some as he grows up. We also went to an area to get a few souveniors. After that we were tired from the long day and we went back to the guest house to relax. Brian played soccer and ball with the 2 girls staying with us while me and the baby sat and watched.

Our daughter is in Wolisso too (she is between 9-12 years old). Thank you for sharing your pictures...we can't wait to visit there too.
