Bennett's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Bennett's 1st Birthday with a big Elmo party with lots of friends and family. Thanks to everyone who made that day special for us and Bennett. And for spoiling him a little more :) I cant believe my baby boy is one! It seems like only 3 1/2 months ago we met him... Oh yeah we did! HAHA. Love that boy.

I love the pictures. I really hope you all can come to our cookout so we can meet in person. Plus the Armstrongs and Maynards will be there for familiar faces!

Adoption Timeline

11/25/09- Adoption decree is done
11/23/09- Put plane tickets on hold
11/19/09- Bennett K. Gibson passed court and became our legal son!
11/19/09- Our COURT DATE!
10/27/09- We found out our court date
10/15/09- Our Case is Submitted to Court
10/14/09- Ethiopia Courts are Back OPEN and Working
10/13/09- Bennett turns 6 months old
10/12/09- Ethiopia courts were supposed to open but did not
10/9/09- Got our approved I71H in the mail
10/9/09- Bennett weighs 13.2lbs
9/23/09- got new pics of our baby boy
9/23/09- Sent letter from vet to USCIS about Mercedes
9/21/09- Got new video of Bennett and he is smiling and laughing....we are told he can roll over as well!
9/6/09- Bennett weighes 5.7kg (12.5 lbs)!!!!
8/31/09- Got video in the mail of Bennett
8/30/09- My Baby Shower (thrown by Mom and Christa for our families and some friends)
8/03/09- Saw Bennett on Skype wearing an outfit we sent him
7/27/09- Our agency told us Ethiopia is closing for September
7/15/09- Our agency told us Ethiopia courts are planning on staying open for rainy season
7/09/09- Dossier sent to Ethiopia
7/02/09- 10:56pm Dossier was put in UPS box headed for Washington DC
7/02/09- Final letters from CCI came in mail
7/01/09- Recieved video of Baby Bennett!
6/30/09- 9:12pm OFFICIALLY ACCEPTED BABY BENNETT'S REFERRAL!!!!
6/30/09- Baby Bennett weighs 5 kg! (about 11lbs)
6/30/09- Talked to Dr. about Baby Bennett's Medical File
6/30/09- Redo cover letter, get county seal again, go to capital and get state seals
6/29/09- Our documents for dossier are approved by CCI
6/29/09- Recieved Baby Boy's Medical File
6/26/09- Baby Boy put on HOLD for our family
6/26/09- Final Homestudy Arrived in Mail
6/25/09- First "While You Are Waiting" meeting with women at Highview
6/11/09- Saw Picture of Baby Boy I fell in Love with
6/5/09- Doctor Appointments
6/04/09- Adpotion Class at Highview
6/1/09- Sent Application to Agency
6/01/09- Home visit part of Homestudy
5/28/09- USCIS File I600 and get Fingerprints
5/26/09- Brian got a New Drivers ID
5/26/09- First Homestudy Visit
5/18/09- Get letter from 5th Third
5/18/09- Send out State Police Criminal Check and Child/Spouse Abuse Check
5/12/09- Sent Application to Adoption Assistance
5/12/09- Sent for copy of Marriage Liscense
4/13/09- Baby Bennett K. is born
